ABOUT PETRA

A Little About Me

I have always been curious about people, about nature, and about the extraordinary mystery of being human.

There has always been a part of me that simply knows — a way of seeing and sensing that has never been confined to what can be seen, measured or explained.

Today, I bring that curiosity and way of seeing into my work through Homeopathy and Mentoring, walking alongside people as they discover a deeper connection with themselves.

My Story

I was born in Austria and have called New Zealand home for more than three decades. Over the years, this beautiful country has become my home in every sense, giving my connection with nature room to grow and flourish.

My path to the work I do today was not a straight one.

For more than 20 years, I worked in the health field, including alongside surgeons and other health professionals. I gained a broad understanding of the health environment and the many different ways people experience their health and wellbeing.

But there came a point in my life when I found myself asking a question I suspect many of us ask at some stage:

What is my purpose?

My children had grown, my work no longer felt fulfilling, and there was something within me asking to be expressed.

Eventually, I realised I was not going to find the answer by continuing to look outside myself.

I needed to make a commitment to myself.

That decision changed the direction of my life.

Finding a Way to Bring It All Together

Through Homeopathy and Mentoring, I found a way to bring together so many parts of myself — my experience in health, my intuition, my curiosity about human nature and my desire to make a meaningful contribution.

I discovered that purpose was not something I needed to find somewhere outside of myself.

It was something I could live and express through who I already was.

I have always experienced life through my own way of seeing — noticing things, sensing what may lie beneath the surface and being curious about the deeper patterns that shape who we are.

I sometimes describe myself as a Seer and a Modern Healer. These words reflect this innate part of who I am and the way I bring together my intuition, experience and curiosity in my work with others.

Today, I have worked as a Homeopath for more than 15 years. Yet I believe my greatest qualification is not simply what I have studied or done.

It is my willingness to remain curious.

Curious about people.
Curious about life.
Curious about what lies beneath what we can see.

What I Believe

I don't believe there is one prescribed way to live a meaningful life.

I believe that each of us has our own experiences, our own way of seeing the world and our own unique path.

So much of life encourages us to look outside ourselves for validation, answers and permission to be who we are. Yet sometimes the most important thing we can do is begin to look within - to listen, to notice, to become curious, to discover.

And, ultimately, to trust the knowing that is already within us. I believe healing is not about becoming someone else.

It is about returning to yourself.

The Way I Walk Alongside You

My role is not to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like.

I walk alongside you.

Discovery Journeys begin with curiosity about who you are, not simply what you do. There is space to express yourself, explore what is happening in your life and notice what emerges along the way.

Through Homeopathy, Mentoring and, where appropriate, Flower Essences and other supportive approaches, each journey is shaped around the person in front of me rather than a prescribed path.

You don't need to arrive with all the answers.

You can bring your questions, uncertainty, strengths, experiences and the parts of yourself still waiting to be understood.

Together, we create space to explore, discover and develop a deeper connection with yourself — so you can begin to trust your intuition and live in a way that feels more authentic and meaningful to you.

Beyond the Work

When I am not working, you will often find me walking amongst the trees, tending my vegetable garden or heading out for a swim.

Nature has always been an important part of my life. I feel deeply connected to the places, people and animals around me, and I continue to be fascinated by the mystery and wonder that can be found in ordinary moments.

I also love creating with my hands. Knitting has become one of those simple pleasures — socks, shawls, vests and jumpers are all fair game.

And then there are the animals.

I have always had a particular connection with them, and you may occasionally find me talking to them in German — or, more accurately, my Austrian dialect.

I am also the proud mother of two grown children, and I share my home in Riverhead, northwest of Auckland, with my cat, Monty.

Still Curious

For me, life is not about arriving at a final destination.

It is about remaining curious.

About listening.
About noticing.
About discovering.

And about continuing to become more fully who you are.

That is the journey I continue to walk myself — and the journey I invite you to explore at Petra's Place.
